Thaddeus brings a strong legal and public policy background to the SonoCoin Advisory Board. For twelve years he served in various legal and public policy roles at General Electric: most recently as Senior Counsel, where he led a team supporting GE businesses and Global Research on intellectual property, trade and investment issues.

Prior to joining GE in 2005, he served in senior government positions at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and The White House Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. In addition to government service, he worked in the appellate litigation practice at Jones Day in Washington, D.C. and in the Brussels European law and policy practice of Akin Gump. He clerked for Judge Karen Williams on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Thaddeus served as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Committee charged with reviewing and preparing a report on the science and technology capabilities of the U.S. Department of State. And has testified as an expert before committee of the U.S. Congress and the French Senate.

Thaddeus holds a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College and a law degree from Catholic University of America Law School where he served on law review.

He is the director of the bachelor program in Information Systems and Service Science and president of ThinkServices, a Geneva based think(do)tank on Service Science and Innovation where ThinkData.ch was designed. He was associate professor at Korea University Business School in Seoul until 2008. He is also cofounder in 2001 of PebbleAge, a Geneva based company specialized in corporate performance management solutions.

His research interest and work is in information security with a particular focus on Digital Rights Management in the enterprise and media sectors. His work on Exception Management in DRM environments has been transferred to the industry in partnership with Fasoo. This work is part of a research area in socially responsible and sustainable security. He also carries out research in blockchain technology, cloud computing, Internet of Things, privacy, data protection and transparency. His keen interest in Design Thinking as a skill served as a basis for ThinkServices and the creation of an academic FabLab in Geneva. He is the author of a book on Digital Responsibility (Editions Fyp, 2014) where he argues about the value of informed trust and transparency as the basis of an emerging principle of Co-Compliance (collaborative compliance).
